Food Processing

Food processing dust collectors could handle a variety of products such as grains, flour, dairy, cocoa, sugar, and starches. Certain special considerations are needed for each.

Explosive Dust Considerations

Many raw agricultural products can be explosive. Among these are flours, grains, starches, and sugar.

  • Collectors with explosion relief vents are required
  • NFPA 654 compliance for dust explosion mitigation
  • Special grounding and static control measures

Sticky & Hygroscopic Materials

Other food products can be sticky or hygroscopic. Notable among these are sugar and various oils and fats.

  • Special oleophobic bag finishes for good cake release
  • Maintain temperatures well above dew point
  • Materials typically free-flowing when properly dry

Sanitary Standards & Product Recovery

It's often desirable to recover the product in a food processing collector. In those cases, meeting sanitary standards is essential.

Sanitation Requirements

  • FDA approved materials for all dust contact surfaces
  • FDA-compliant filter bags and construction materials
  • Stainless steel or FDA-approved white epoxy dust contact surfaces
  • 3A sanitary standards for dairy and high-sanitation applications
  • Smooth, cleanable surfaces with minimal ledges or crevices

BCE Food Industry Expertise: Our food processing dust collectors are designed with the specific requirements of the food industry in mind, including explosion protection for combustible dusts, specialized filter media for challenging materials, and full compliance with FDA and 3A sanitary standards for product recovery applications.
