Thermal Oxidizers Design and Installed by BCE
Thermal Oxidizers
BCE thermal oxidizers are essential for processing air containing combustible particulates. They reduce toxic, explosive, or otherwise hazardous pollutants to simpler, non-toxic substances by subjecting them to very high temperatures that break chemical bonds. The decomposed material can then be safely released into the atmosphere. BCE delivers optimum clean air solutions tailored to your project.
Types of Thermal Oxidizers
Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTO)
Energy used in oxidation is efficiently recovered via ceramic heat transfer beds. Thermal efficiency can reach around 95%. Disadvantages include the expense of replacing ceramic media if plugged and higher pressure drops compared to recuperative units.
Recuperative Thermal Oxidizers
Heat from oxidation is passed through a heat exchanger to preheat incoming air, achieving roughly 70% energy recovery. Although initial cost is lower, energy usage can be about six times that of an RTO, offsetting long-term savings.
Catalytic Recuperative Thermal Oxidizers
Uses a catalyst such as platinum or rhodium to lower operating temperatures from 1400°F to ~650°F, reducing fuel usage to roughly a quarter of a standard recuperative oxidizer. Still higher than an RTO, but effective for temperature-sensitive applications.
